40th Anniversary of Stonewall at Stonewall

In honor of their 40th Anniversary the bar is starting "Give Back Tuesdays". This past Tuesday was a job fair for out of work LGBT folk with recruiters and 2-4-1 drink specials. Sounds like a perfect combinations of liquid courage and job opportunities. Ladies don't let the two'fer get the better of you. A word to the wise from Average Jane - their don't order a tequial sunrise - tastes like fart (if you can imagine that...or don't). Next Tuesday, is a fund-raiser for an AIDS run. Me and da posse saw The Cliks on Monday night and to steal a word that the youngsters are saying...the show was EPIC. Let's start in the middle from the acoustic version of "Oh yeah" or at the end with the version of "Dirty King" mix in a lil' Cyndi Lauper and bud light and you've got lezzie gold. it was dirrrry....grimey even. Loved it!

Everyone should go out and buy their new album on June 23rd. In the mean time, check out some of their new stuff on myspace or try and see them on tour. Rumor has it they'll be coming back to the tri-state area.

So Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson break up, do we care? Yes, we do!

It's an uncertain future ahead for these lezzies. Will Lindsay or as Perez calls her Linsanity go back to dudes? She was pretty heterolicious before the DJ. How many more times will they break up? Cuz we all know lez beans need several rounds of break up & make up torture. It's not gonna be a nice civil break up like Jodie Foster...we're talking restraining order, change your number...change your zip code. For Samantha, how do you date someone new after the original Mean Girl? I wouldn't want to follow in those Prada shoes. I guess we'll wait and see how long this break up lasts.

Another lezzie on late night

FOX is working on a new late night show for Saturdays headlined by Wanda Sykes, according to B&C. The one-hour show, described as similar to HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, will air at 11p with a possible launch time of this fall or next January.

These are two great organizations helping to spread the word and get more people involved in the fight for equal rights.

Happy Valentine's Day....really?

I've been thinking - about greeting cards for the 'mos. Like is this really the selection we have to choose from - generic, no picture on the front type cards or make your own!? Even most of the generic ones are written from a "straight" perspective and there are like 5 to choose from. I'm gonna have to get new girlfriends so that I don't have to recycle cards. Ok, maybe its not that serious.

Is there a site or place out there that can help me express my bottled up lezzie feelings for anniversaries, birthdays and more?

So yesterday there was a Freedom to Marry Protest at the Manhattan Marriage License Bureau. The protest was organized by Join the Impact NYC and Marriage Equality New York. There was a pretty good turn out, some photographers and news crews were there.

New Artist - Schuyler Fisk

Hey Ladies!

So last night I caught the Schulyer Fisk show at the Bell House and I must say she's a pretty talented lady. Here music first caught my attention when I heard the song Paperweight with Joshua Radin. Then when researching I learned that she is Sissy Spacek's daughter and she has been in a couple films. She was in Snow Day, The Baby Sitter's Club and I'm Reed Fish to name a few. Her music is similar to: Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Jaymay, The Weepies, etc.

Well not only is she talented but she is also really nice and humble. After her set last night (which I wish was longer) she asked everyone to come out to the merch table to say hey and introduce themselves. I bought her CD titles "The Good Life" and gave it a listen last night...I highly reccomend it.

Lezzie Rant on L Word

ok so I watched the 2nd episode last night again with some friends and it's a hot mess. It's like a daytime soap.

Bette and Tina are gonna adopt a kid and are adding a second story to their house. Bette is flirting so Tina gets made.

Helena and Kit are transforming SheBar into HIT (stupid name for a club). Helena sees Dylan at the lezzie bar and at first comes off all calm cool and collected. She shoulda stopped their because she made Dylan fee like a piece of shit which is what she deserved. Then Helena goes nutso runs after her and chews her out so Dylan has the upper hand because she gets Helena to yell at her.

Alice and Tasha are clinging to their relationship and I hope they make it because I think they're cute. They go to counseling...Alice can't shut up...the dr. says they shouldn't be together....then they do it in the parking garage....HOT. Not exactly sure why Tasha closed the dorr to the car when they were gettin' down since the windows were rolled down but hey whatever works.

Jenny and Shane end up makin out and I don't even know what to say about this because they have NO chemistry and it just looks weird.

Max and Tom are preggers....sure Ilene you don't steal stories from the headlines...ummm hmmm

and I'm exhausted just typing all this out. I know lezzies can be dramatic and crazy but this is just tooooo much. I hate to say it but L Word shoulda died after season 5. Don't get me wrong I will still be tuning in each Sunday at 9pm until I have to say goodbye but woah...Ilene you're trying to cram too much into a mini season.

Maybe next week Max will be preggers with Octuplets. We'll see when we tune-in next week as these are the days of L Word.

You're never too far from home

Every now and again I check my hometown newspaper online - which led me to this story that I've been following for a while. A 15 year old girl shot another girl and classmates claim that Wimberly, the accused, sought a romantic relationship with Collette, the victim, but was rejected. And now her defense is saying that mental health issues played a role in the shooting. If what a bunch of high school kids say is true then as a lady scorn by love/rejection... I can see that. It should be interesting to see how this plays out and how her possibly being gay becomes a factor.
